Wow! I had NO clue it had been so very long since I posted anything. I then realised I hadn't even officially announced we are having our fifth baby at Christmastime! I have been so busy ripping up floors and tiling, and painting and getting through the end of the school year that the time has flown. We celebrated my 2 yr olds Birthday yesterday. It was lovely to have everyone here in our new home. Today though chaos surrounds - presents scattered, dishes still to do.. I have a real feeling of home finally. Which is nothing but a good thing.

Now I get it
I've been a DIYer for a long time. As is my Mother. However there are some projects, knocking down walls, tiling floors, installing worktops - that I'd rather leave the professionals. I just had a contractor in to give me estimates on the work i want doing around mainly the kitchen.. well my.mind.is.officially.blown. and not in a good way! I can see why people do these crazy big jobs themselves. The costs are just crazy when you think about what's actually being done. Looks like I need to scale back on what were already quite modest plans!

the mermaid lagoon
So on a whim yesterday I painted my bathroom blue.. not as spectacularly as this! But its a whole lot better than the bland beige it was before! I've put up a few pictures - pride of place is my John William Waterhouse Mermaid print which I love. Hoping to find lots of sea faring pictures and accessories at yard sales over the summer.. the idea is to create a below deck on an old tall ship feel! Today I'm using the same color for the dark hall off the family room to the guest bedroom. Its a bright light blue, and a lovely complement to the butter-cream rooms you can see from it.

Making a start
I made a start on the bathroom today. I know potential buyers won't be inspecting the walls with a magnifying glass - but I am, in fact I should have taken out shares in the Spackle company! I've decided to do one room at a time. Doing bits around the house in various rooms, just wasn't cutting it. I hated that feeling of having done a load of work, but not being able to actually see a difference. I made a start out front over the weekend, weeded, bagged up all the trash people throw in my garden. I planted some annuals for that all important "curb appeal", tomorrow I'll put down mulch to fill in the gaps. I feel if people start noticing it as being a lovely front they'll be more interested in the house when the for sale sign goes out. Onward and upward.
