Every time a child says, "I don't believe in fairies," there is a fairy somewhere that falls down dead.

100th Day of School fast approaching!

The children are all a buzz about their 100th day celebrations. I'm not sure the 3rd grader celebrates much - other than the fact that half a school year is almost done and dusted! The Kindergartner has the usual project of producing a collection of 100 items - and this gets me excited. With my first we made 100 origami cranes.. yes really.. and made them into a mobile (which the teacher took home for her baby's room). Impressive right? Last year it was 100 googly eyeballs stuck to a superman. Yeah, you can tell the enthusiasm had waned a bit! This year I've seen this genius (ok really crafty) idea of making a gumball machine out of a flower pot.
I think I'm more excited than she is but it will be a winner I'm sure! Not that it's a competition..ahem.. We're going to fill it with 100 of those fuzzball pompoms instead of actual gumballs, which I always think are a choking hazard for anyone under 21, don't you?!

good news..

So the tests were all clear - so that's a hurdle jumped - a few more to go! Children start back at school tomorrow so I'm in full on organizing mode - mixed of course with full on 5 1/2 months pregnant so I'm tired mode ugh. Have my road test in the morning too, and although I'm definitely trying to be more breezy about passing or in my case - failing! - it's still nerve wracking to know I may have to start the whole process again. Anyway - not a long post as I have mountains still to do before I can officially relax for an early night. Oh I did buy an owl candle holder and some glitter paint and had the children collect acorns on Saturday - so the hint of Autumn is just around the corner - and I'm loving that thought!

a long time

Wow! I had NO clue it had been so very long since I posted anything.  I then realised I hadn't even officially announced we are having our fifth baby at Christmastime! I have been so busy ripping up floors and tiling, and painting and getting through the end of the school year that the time has flown.  We celebrated my 2 yr olds Birthday yesterday. It was lovely to have everyone here in our new home.  Today though chaos surrounds - presents scattered, dishes still to do.. I have a real feeling of home finally. Which is nothing but a good thing.

onward

So we have found another house, that passed inspection with mostly flying colors. It is a 5 bedroom, 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 fireplace spread, and suits our needs just perfectly. There is a large almost acre garden, and it is set 600feet up a mountain so lots of fresh air for my asthmatic daughter. Also it is still the same great school as the termite-filled house, and there's a school bus, so all in all - great. We made an offer which was accepted, and now the waiting game has begun. The buyer of our house was on vacation for 2 weeks (with no one covering him?!) and so there was the first delay. It is now almost a week since he got back, but still no word. Although our buyers have paid deposit, and all contracts have been signed, they could still jump. This being my biggest fear, as then we are left with starting the whole selling process again from scratch. Argh! Meanwhile I have been planning the new house to keep myself busy. I have chosen paint colours and designed my garden front and back! Also the children and I have been packing up not needed stuff, and still it feels like the house is full. Really hoping to hear from our lawyer in the next few days with good news, so we can start working out dates for closing and moving. It is now too late in any case to move in time for the children starting school, as that's only 5 weeks away, so we will need to put them back in to their old school for a while, which is not the disruption I wanted for them, but cest la vie. We are off to Disney World for the first week of September, so I'm hoping that will be a welcome break for them and us. At least it will take our minds off all this uncertainty.

the waiting game

So our house is open for viewing as of Thursday, really hoping someone makes an offer quick smart. I think I would be pretty heartbroken to lose the house we made an offer on, even though I know there are more fish in the sea and all that. As its nearing the end of May, if someone did make an offer, and we accepted we likely wouldn't close until July - which would still give us time to settle in before school starts again. So I am ever hopeful. Its been an uphill struggle getting this house ready to sell, what with gas leaks, whole new gas pipes, roof leaks, new roof, endless painting, packing and storing - I'm ready for a holiday! Just that hope though that this time next week we could have an offer or 2 to consider, is very exciting. I would love for the children to get to enjoy the huge gardens and space before the cooler months set back in. And I of course would love to relax before the school run takes over!
